Revealing the real life impact of Psoriasis over time

IFPA message

Welcome to Under the Spotlight!

As President of the International Federation of Psoriasis Associations (IFPA), I would like to introduce a unique initiative, which we had great pleasure in launching on World Psoriasis Day 2009.

Under the Spotlight is a unique series of documentaries featuring people living with psoriasis from around the globe. These brave and generous people have let a documentary camera crew, into their lives and have talked openly and honestly about how they feel their psoriasis has affected them. They hope that through telling their stories, other people living with the disease can feel less alone and can find comfort in the common experiences of this community.

These same people have agreed to be filmed over a number of years so that we can see what part psoriasis plays in their lives in the future. Over time, more and more people from around the world will join the project, creating a rich source of advice, support, information and personal testimony.

This project is unique and ambitious, but we believe that it gives people who live with the disease a voice with which to articulate the impact it has on their lives.

IFPA is always striving to raise awareness and increase understanding of psoriasis, which is a serious, chronic, inflammatory disease that affects 125 million people in the world today. We wish to reduce suffering and help people live their lives the way they want to. We hope that Under the Spotlight will help us do that, by showing real lives, in real time and helping to break down barriers to understanding this disease.

I hope you will find the documentary and accompanying individuals stories interesting.

With kind regards, on World Psoriasis Day and always.
